ECDL/ICDL programs are for anyone who wishes to become fully competent in the use of a computer and common applications. Each ECDL/ICDL module provides a practical program of up-to-date skills and knowledge areas which are validated by a test. It is owned and managed by the ECDL Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Dublin, Ireland. The ECDL/ICDL syllabus is designed and regularly updated by a panel of experts to ensure relevance to the working world and advances in technology, and covers the key concepts of computing, their practical applications and use in the workplace and society.
ECDL/ICDL is open to anyone regardless of age, education, experience or background. When a candidate registers to start the certification process, he/she receives an ICDL Skills Card number, which he/she can use to sit for ECDL/ICDL exams all over the world. The modules may be taken in any order, thus offering maximum flexibility. When all modules have been successfully completed within a maximum duration of 3 years, the candidate receives his/her ECDL/ICDL certificate through the accredited center which did the registration for him/her.The ECDL Foundation has produced a set of standards and quality guidelines to ensure that the ECDL/ICDL concept is operated in a consistent fashion in all member countries through adherence to these common quality standards. There is also a regular audit process.
ICDL Jordan, a branch of Advanced Quality Assurance Systems (AQAS) Ltd., the National Operator in Jordan, applies the standards set by the ECDL Foundation to all the ECDL/ICDL program procedures.ICDL Jordan accredits ICDL testing centers according to the ECDL Foundation standards and evaluates their performance annually, and renews their contracts accordingly.ICDL Jordan’s team supervises each ICDL test session conducted in the centers throughout the country, and monitors the progress of the program. Regular audit visits to centers are conducted to ensure that the quality standards are implemented, and also to maintain the quality of any software or hardware relevant to the program.
